Gumboot Friday

       Gumboot Friday

Gumboot Friday is used to raise money for mental health and to help people. Also there is a give a little page that has got over $800,000.00.  So give a little to to help those kids and people who are stuck in negative thoughts. Every dollar that is raised is used to help the people. We also made cards with positive notes on them that everyone made in  Te Waka Ako. Once we had enough we all split out into groups and spread around the neighborhood to give them to the people and to uplift the community. They decided to choose gumboots because people were getting stuck in negative thoughts and they described it as getting stuck in mud. So they picked gumboots because Gumboots go straight through the mud and it also acts as straight through those negative thoughts. This relates to our inquiry topic that is  Hauora-Wellbeing and mental health is in our wellbeing. I think this was a really good experience because it teaches people to be really kind. You feel much more happier after this because you have made other people happier. We inspired them with these notes. I think this because people feel much happier after someone has given them compliments on how they are. To keep going and believe in themselves that's why I think this is important.
